Customising service availability intervals

Bookem allows you to customise how often appointment slots appear on your online booking page. By default, service intervals match the service duration - but you can adjust this to better suit your workflow and client booking patterns.

Default behaviour

By default, appointment slots appear at intervals based on the duration of the service.

For example, if a service lasts 15 minutes and is available between 08:00 and 10:00, your booking page will show time slots at:

  • 08:00

  • 08:15

  • 08:30

  • 08:45

  • ... and so on

This helps you maximise your availability and reduce downtime between bookings.

Why customise the interval?

In some cases, you may want more control over when clients can book. For example:

  • You offer a 45 - minute service but prefer clients to book only on the hour

  • You want to create cleaner gaps between appointments

  • You have admin tasks or buffer times between sessions

With custom intervals, you can set a service to be available only at certain times, regardless of its actual duration.

How to set a custom service interval

  1. Go to Settings > Services

  2. Click on the service you want to edit

  3. Scroll to Service locations

  4. Click Show more to expand additional settings

  5. Under Available every, change the setting to Custom duration

  6. Enter your preferred interval (e.g. 1 hour)

For example, if the service duration is 45 minutes but you set the interval to 1 hour, clients will only see time slots at 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, etc.

Result on the booking page

Your online booking page will now show appointment times based on the custom interval you’ve set - rather than the actual duration of the service.

This is a great way to ensure bookings align with your preferences, whether for clinical reasons, personal time management, or location logistics.
