Services are the types of appointments that clients can book with you. This is the first thing that a client selects when they make a booking with you.
We'll run you through all the steps to successfully set up basic or complex services.
1. Navigate to Settings > Services
2. Click the '+New Service' button in the top right corner
3. Give your service a clear, recognisable name e.g. 'Initial Consultation'
4. Choose a color to identify this service in your calendar - If no service image is added, this color will also appear on your online booking page
5. Write a description: A friendly description of what the service includes that will show up on your online booking page
1. Service duration: Enter how long this service takes (e.g. 30 min, 1 hour).
2. Buffer time (Optional): Add time before and/or after the service for travel, admin or prep. This ensures you don’t get back-to-back bookings without adequate transition time.
1. Team members: Select which team members can be booked for this service. Only the people you check here will appear as available for this appointment type.
2. Resources (Optional): If your service requires specific rooms, equipment, or tools, assign any applicable resources. Bookem will automatically manage availability based on resource scheduling.
1. Location: Choose where the service takes place:
At your business location
Off-site (e.g. home visits)
Video call
2. Online Bookings: Toggle on or off
ON: Clients can book this service directly through your online booking link.
OFF: Only staff can book this internally.
1. Next, add pricing to your service and toggle show pricing online to on or off, depending your preferences
2. This simplifies invoice generation, as Bookem will automatically populate the invoice. You can choose whether to display prices online.
If you have line items set up for services, be sure to select 'Itemised price' and search for your line items to allocate it to your service price.
1. Choose your preferred method for handling online bookings for this service. Customize the setup for each service; for example, you might require upfront payment for video calls but not for in-person follow-ups.
Options include:
Automatically confirm bookings
Confirm bookings after payment
Manually review and confirm bookings
2. Add a service image
3. Check that you have selected the correct booking form
NOTE: The default form is more than sufficient and we strongly suggest you keep any custom booking forms short
4. Lastly, click 'save' to make your service live. If online booking is enabled, it will now appear as an option on your public booking page.
