Bookem offers three transcription models. You choose which to use each time. Standard is the default; unless you select another, your recordings will be transcribed using Standard.
The higher the tier, the better Bookem handles errors that occur during live transcription and the faster it processes longer recordings.
On-device (Whisper): Runs locally on your device. Free to use, but requires a one-time model download before your first transcription.
Standard: Costs 3.38 credits per hour. Processes large recordings faster than the free on-device option.
Advanced: Costs 22.98 credits per hour. Resolves any live transcription errors and processes large recordings faster than Standard, and includes the option to transcribe in English or Medical English.
Choosing a model for a recording
From the booking, click 'Start recording'
When you're finished, click pause/ stop
From the dropdown menu, select the transcription model you want to use: On-device, Standard, or Advanced
Tip:
The first time you select On-device, Bookem prompts you to download the Whisper model. This is a one-time download - after that, on-device transcription runs without needing an internet connection.
