Troubleshooting time zone settings

Bookem works across multiple time zones so you can take bookings from clients in different countries, and your business can operate across multiple locations with different time zones. Bookem automatically converts booking times so that you see bookings in your local time, and clients receive notifications in theirs.

If an booking appears at the wrong time, has shifted unexpectedly, or seems to have disappeared, follow the steps below to identify the cause.

Checklist:

1. Did someone change the booking time?

  1. Open the booking from your calendar
  2. Go to the Booking history tab
  3. Review the activity log

This shows:

  • If the time was edited
  • Who made the change
  • Whether the booking was moved, cancelled, or deleted

This is the fastest way to confirm whether the time was manually changed or affected by a timezone adjustment.

2. Are your Bookem time zone settings correct?

If your location time zone is incorrect, bookings may display several hours earlier or later than expected.

  1. Go to Settings > Locations
  2. Open the relevant location
  3. Check the Time zone setting
  4. Click Save if you make changes

3. Did you check time zone differences when booking in a client manually?

  1. Search and select the client from Clients
  2. Check the Time zone field in their profile
  3. Update it if required
  4. Click Save

Timezone conversion applies especially to remote services. If the client’s timezone differs from yours, Bookem converts the booking accordingly.

4. Clients booking from a different time zone must make sure their settings are also correct

When a client books a remote service, Bookem detects their time zone at the time of booking and displays it on the booking.

Ask the client to check:

  • Their device time zone - Typically via Settings > General Management / System >Date & Time
  • Their browser time zone - If in doubt, they can search “check my time zone” in their browser to confirm

5. Check VPNs

If you or the client were using a VPN, the detected time zone may be different from your actual location.

Turn off the VPN and refresh your calendar to confirm whether the display changes.
