How to add ICD-10 codes to client profiles and invoices

Bookem makes it easy to record ICD-10 diagnostic codes and include them on client invoices.

Step 1: Add an ICD-10 field to client profiles

To store ICD-10 codes in a client’s profile, you’ll need to add a custom field:

  1. Go to Clients > Profile fields

  2. Add a new field

  3. Choose Tags as the field type

  4. Rename the field from tags to ICD-10

  5. Set the List source to Data list

  6. From the drop-down menu, select ICD-10 Code Data List

  7. Click Add item

You can now enter ICD-10 codes directly in each client’s profile.

* These codes will also be available when generating documents such as referral letters, patient notes and reports

Step 2: Add the ICD-10 column to invoices

To show ICD-10 codes on your invoices, you'll need to add a column for them in your line item settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Payment & invoicing > Line items

  2. Click Edit columns

  3. Click Add column and select Tags

  4. Rename the label to ICD-10

  5. Set the List source to Data list

  6. Choose ICD-10 Code Data List from the dropdown

  7. Click Add item to save

Once set up, any ICD-10 codes saved in the client’s profile will automatically appear in the invoice.

How to manually add ICD-10 codes when generating an invoice

If a client doesn’t have ICD-10 codes saved in their profile, you can enter them directly when creating an invoice:

  1. Create a new invoice for the client

  2. In the ICD-10 column, click inside the field and type the appropriate code(s)

  3. Save the invoice

Tip: To save time, store frequently used ICD-10 codes in the client’s profile so they auto-fill in future invoices.
