How online payments work in Bookem

Online payments are a fast, easy and secure way to collect payments from clients. With Bookem, you can send professional invoices that include a unique payment link for each invoice, so your clients always know exactly what they are paying for.

Bookem also tracks how much a client owes or has paid, helping you stay on top of your cash flow with less manual admin.

Supported online payment methods

Bookem integrates with a number of trusted payment providers:

  • PayFast

  • PayPal

  • SnapScan

  • Wigwag

You will need to set up a payment gateway account with your chosen provider. Once that’s done, you can link it to Bookem so that every invoice you send includes an option for clients to pay online using a secure, invoice-specific link.

Automate bookings with pay to confirm

If you’ve set a service to pay to confirm, clients will be asked to pay online when they book. The online payment options will be shown automatically.

Once payment is made:

  • The booking is automatically confirmed in your calendar

  • The payment is reconciled against the invoice

  • No manual steps are needed from your side

This is a great way to reduce no-shows and ensure payment upfront for high-demand or prepaid services.

How to enable online payments in Bookem

  • Create an account with one of the supported payment gateways

  • In Bookem, go to Settings > Payments

  • Link your gateway account using your credentials or API key

  • Start sending invoices with unique online payment links automatically included

  • (Optional) Set specific services to pay to confirm under Settings > Services

When you send an invoice via email or SMS, the message includes a link to view the invoice. On that invoice page, your client will see the payment options, including a secure link to pay online. Each payment link is tied to a specific invoice, so there’s no confusion about what’s being paid for.

Once payment is complete, the invoice is automatically marked as settled in your Bookem account.
