When a client makes a payment, you need to allocate it to the correct invoice to keep your records accurate. There are two ways to do this, depending on when and how the payment is made.
If the client is paying at the time of service:
Create the invoice as usual
Click Finalise and pay
Enter the payment details (e.g. amount received and payment method)
The payment will be automatically allocated to the invoice
Click Issue receipt to provide the client with a record of payment
This is the quickest method if the client is paying immediately
If the payment is received later
Go to Accounts > Payments
Create a New payment
Select the invoice(s) to allocate the payment to
Check the received amount and the allocated amount:
If the received amount is more than the invoice total, the remaining balance will be stored as credit for future use
Click Save to complete the allocation.

Note: If you use one of Bookem's supported payment gateways for online payments, the payment will automatically reconcile, saving you the hassle of manual allocation
