How to create and send a script

Bookem makes it simple to create and send digital prescriptions. By using the reusable prescription template provided by Bookem - or setting up your own - you can streamline your workflow and reduce admin time.

Bookem has integrated with EMGuidance for AES prescriptions - read more here

Create and send a script from a client’s appointment in your Bookem calendar

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the client booking

  2. Click on 'Documents' > '+ New Document'

  3. Select the Prescription template

  4. Complete and sign the script -

The template will auto - fill key fields from the client’s profile (e.g. name, ID number, date of birth). Fill in the medication details and any notes, then add your saved digital signature.

How to send the prescription

Once your script is complete, you can send it securely

1. Click 'Create & Send' or 'Save & Send'

2. Alternatively, click the arrow icon in the top right corner of the screen to access the send options

3. Choose a delivery method:

  • Email – Sends a secure link to the prescription and automatically includes the script as a PDF attachment

  • SMS – Sends a secure link to the prescription (limited to the client only)

4. Add the pharmacy email address as a second recipient and click ‘Send’

💡 Scripts sent via email are securely delivered and stored in Messages and the client’s document history and for future reference

Tips for streamlining scripts

  • Set up a reusable Prescription template under Documents > Document Templates

  • Use variables to auto - fill client details (e.g. #firstname, #lastname #id_number)

  • Keep your team member profile updated with registration and practice numbers for signing scripts

  • Add pharmacies as 'clients' so you can access their email address in Bookem
